What makes a shower ADA compliant and how do I know if I must meet ADA requirements?
To meet ADA Standards for Accessible Design, a roll-in shower must be at least 36" x 36" (with a fold-down seat) or 60" x 30" without a seat. The threshold must be no higher than 1/2" with a beveled edge, the floor must be slip-resistant, and there must be blocking in the walls to support grab bars at any point. Our Best Bath showers exceed these requirements — every wall is backed with solid wood blocking so grab bars can be mounted anywhere they are needed. ADA requirements only apply to commercial applications or large living facilities. If you are in need of shower access in an individual home, ADA requirement do not have to be met. You are looking more for an accessible application.
What is the difference between a roll-in shower, a barrier-free shower, and a zero-threshold shower?
These terms are often used interchangeably but have subtle differences. A roll-in shower has no or a minimal threshold so a wheelchair can enter directly. A barrier-free shower is a broader term meaning no raised lip or a low threshold between the bathroom floor and the shower floor. A zero-threshold shower has a completely flush transition. Our multi-piece Best Bath showers are available in 1/2", 3/4", and 1" beveled threshold options — all of which qualify as low-threshold or roll-in-ready depending on the configuration selected.
Are these showers sold as complete kits or do I need to buy walls and pans separately?
Our ADA showers come as complete multi-piece kits — typically 3, 4, or 5 pieces including the shower pan and matching wall panels. They arrive ready to install in an existing opening without the need for mud-setting, tile work, or mortar. Accessories such as grab bars, shower curtains, and wall-mounted seats are sold separately so you can customize the package to your exact needs.
Can these ADA showers be installed during a bathroom remodel — do they fit through a doorway?
Yes — our multi-piece kits are designed for remodeling applications. Each panel is designed to pass through a standard 30"–32" doorway and be assembled inside the bathroom. No demolition to exterior walls is required in most cases. This makes them ideal for aging-in-place remodels, home modifications required by an occupational therapist, or rental property upgrades.

How long does delivery take, and do you ship freight?
Yes, ADA shower kits ship via freight carrier due to their size and weight. Delivery typically takes 8–10 business days after the order is processed. We offer Immediate Ship multi-piece kits in select configurations for faster turnaround. Once your order ships, the freight carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery appointment. Please ensure you have someone available to receive and inspect the shipment.
