How Much Does an ADA Automatic Door Opener Cost? Equipment, Installation and Options Explained.

$3200 will cover the cost of equipment and labor for a basic door operator with two wall mounted buttons.

For starters, this article addresses "low energy" door operators.  Such as those on storefronts, churches, libraries, restrooms, etc.  This article does not discuss "high energy" door operator systems, such as those found on big stores like Walmart, Lowes, grocery stores, etc.  High Energy systems require a licensed company and installers and can cost in the tens of thousands of dollars.

Typical Equipment Costs:  You can get a good, full featured, american made automatic door opener for a bit less than $2500.  With automatic door openers, you get what you pay for.  While you can find "door openers" on Amazon for under $500, those openers will provide years of frustration and trouble shooting.  We recommend an American Made, full featured, trouble free opener like our "Smart Swing Commercial Door Operator" that sells currently for $2295.

Two Push Buttons: Two wireless push buttons will add $400 to your cost.  Wired buttons are a bit less, but wireless solve a multitude of installation problems.

Installation:  Installing automatic door operators is much simpler than you would think.  Installation essentially includes, mounting the motor and housing above the door, attaching the arm to the door and mounting the wireless buttons on walls or posts.  Our systems can be self installed and come with step by step directions, mounting templates and often time "how to install" videos.  Installtaion can also be  completed by a good handyman in less than one day.  While labor costs vary dramatically by region, it is a good estimate to figure a days labor for installation.  $500

Options:  Additional equipment can vary by the individual needs for the system.  Unlatching a door automatically requires an electric strike ($200), a post might be needed outside for mounting the button actuator ($500), a presence sensor (though rarely required) can stop the door from operating when someone is in the doors path ($300).
